New adventure due from Monkey Island man
Gilbert gets publisher
Ron Gilbert, the veteran game maker behind the Monkey Island series, has landed a publisher for his episodic adventure game series DeathSpank, with Episode One - Orphans of Justice set to be delivered by Hothead Games.
Hothead have worked with Gilbert before on the Penny Arcade adventure title, and the former LucasArts big-wig will even join the company as Creative Director.
DeathSpank is described as an RPG-Adventure game, and Gilbert believes his new opus will come across as Monkey Island meets Diablo; the game has apparently been four years in the offing. "Everyone hated it. But the weird thing is the more publishers that turned it down, the more convinced I became that this was a great idea," explained Gilbert. "Every rejection fuelled me with excitement and the knowledge that I was right."
No release date has been offered for DeathSpank yet, but we'll keep you posted.
