PS3 sales collapse in Japan
Sony's next-gen system is suffering...
While Sony's PlayStation 3 may be hanging on in there in Western markets, the picture in Japan is looking decidedly bleak if the latest sales charts are indicative.
For the week ending October 12th Sony's next-gen console was a long way behind the pack-leaders, even falling short of the decrepit PS2 and perennial whipping-boy the Xbox 360.
The PS3 is now going through its worst sales spell in Japan since launch.
At the other end of the chart, the DS leads the way with nearly 32,000 units sold. Second is the PSP, cheering Sony will sales of just under 24,000.
The Wii console is third with just under 23,000, the 360 a far cry-away with nearly 8,000. The PS2 comes in just shy of 7,000 with the PS3 last managing nearly 5,800 in the week.
More soon.
