Word in from Japan this morning tells us that the Wii has now sold in excess of eight million units; that's what Famitsu are reporting anyhow, and they should know.
The machine was first launched in Japan at the end of 2006, making this milestone all the more impressive, although recently the shine has come off the Wii's sales somewhat.
Speculation on the block is that Nintendo might be forced to consider a price cut in Japan, and possibly in Western markets too, as they look further sales and build a strong userbase.
Still, the Xbox 360 has only just passed one million units in Japan, so eight million is certainly nothing to be ashamed of.
