Guitar Hero "clear" music genre winner
Rock Band no match says analyst
Chatting with Gamasutra this week, Cowen analyst Doug Creutz has predicted that despite stiff competition (from MTV's Rock Band, among others), Activision's Guitar Hero IP will emerge as the main winner in the huge music game genre.
"We believe music genre sales for the company will be driven by an expansion of the release slate in 2009, which should broaden sales to core consumers," Creutz offered.
"We also believe that Guitar Hero is likely to face less competition from Rock Band this year, driving a gain in market share for Activision Blizzard."
The Beatles: Rock Band isn't regarded as a major threat to Activision's thrown, either, while DJ Hero is expected to give peripheral sales a lift.

I don't think Rock Band is much of a competitor this year, a lot of people actually don't like the Beatles enough to buy a game based around them.
Accually a lot of people Like the Beatles. I for one am in love with the Beatles. I Don't understand why they don't see The Beatles as competition? they were and still are the most important band in the history of music.
most important band in ROCK history, not history. I am not surprised guitar hero "won" per say because of rock band one being capable of continual downloads. Had rock band not been backwards compatable with content, then this number would have been closer. GH cannot even touch rock bands overall download lead, and I think both games have there upsides and downsides. The beatles will make a ton of money, but to say it will compete overall considering all I have to do is buy the game and not the periphery, then yes, I am sure gh will continue in the lead.
i think GH sells better for the brand and because it oversaturate the stores with its products. I own both RB and GH, but usually play RB because for my point of view has better quality, more music variety and the charts are better made.
