Sony have announced that the Uncharted 2 beta program kicks off on 3rd June. This gives players a chance to get an early look at the multiplayer element of the hot PS3 property as well as giving the game a chance to stretch its legs in a proper playtest.

The beta offers a competitive mode with two maps. Each map offers two types of game - deathmatch and plunder - featuring a mix of familiar and new characters Drake, Sully and Chloe.

Deathmatch we have seen before, but Plunder is Naughty Dog's take on capture the flag. Justin Richmond, the man behind the multiplayer mode said recently on the US PlayStation blog that the game focuses on the player's ability to "think three dimensionally" and that "there are many, many different places to climb, hide, and shoot from above ground level."

Sounds like fun to us! We'll let you know how it plays as soon as we see it.
