Xbox 360 exclusive cinematic adventure Alan Wake was one of the best looking titles at last week's E3 in LA, Remedy writer Sam Lake talking up the progress made on the game with Joystiq.

The title was first unveiled in 2005, but things have been quiet on the game since as far back as 2006, Remedy simply concentrating on getting the game right.

"We have been in the fortunate position where we've had time to do research and do prototypes ... keep the quality bar high and explore, until we find the right combination of different elements," Lake explains. "Things have evolved along the way. This is an action game, but there is a lot of variety."

The title has been in the works a long time then, but the developer won't compromise on quality; this release clearly a labour of love for Lake and his team. "Remedy is not a factory," he explained. "We take our time and try out different things until we feel have found the right combination and a good balance for the game."

I'm really anticipating Alan Wake, and I think it will get a majority of 9.0 plus reviews when its released next year. I don't think Remedy will take 5 years of development just to get mediocre scores. Hopefully I'm not wrong.
