Speaking to IndustryGamers, Wedbush Morgan's outspoken games analyst Michael Pachter has said that he regrets saying that Sony are ripping people off over the pricing of the new PSP Go handheld.
"I sincerely regret the choice of words in my response to Geoff Keighley's question in last week's Bonus Round, where I said that Sony is 'ripping off' the consumer by pricing the PSP Go at 249.99 USD," Pachter explained.
"I made a poor choice of words, and I do NOT think that Sony is doing anything nefarious in choosing their pricing strategy."
The PSP Go will arrive on October 1st worldwide, and will cost 249 Euro on the continent, as well.

I know that for political correctness, a statement retraction was needed. However I think stating the device is overpriced dead on. Sony has proven it is a very greedy company. They didn't improve the hardware capabilities of the Go over the PSP 3000 and the relatively small 16GB hard drive and added bluetooth functionality doesn't justify the price hike. Considering that competing devices such as the DS and iphone both have touch interfaces and cameras, items missing on the PSP Go and this isn't the best deal out there for mobile users. The PSP Go is positioned to be priced well above the DS/DSi and barely lower the ipod touch, which is a superior device in many ways. I don't mind Sony making a profit from the device but they could have released it at 199 and still made a profit.

ya i think this will b cool but 249$ is a little steep
What a joke !!! All the investment I have made in my previuos PSP games, and there is no way to transfer them to the new PSP GO. Sony - you are dreaming. Why would anyone buy a PSP Go ?
