Apps set for PSP Go?
Games Con unveiling rumoured
Games and 'apps' for Sony's PSP Go could be offered for the handheld according to the latest rumour from Destructoid, who suggest an unveiling of 'non-retail' downloads could be confirmed at Games Con in August.
Apps are likely to cost in the region of 2 to 6 USD a go, apparently, and there will be free software to be had as well - Sony clearly eying the success of Apple's App Store.
According to unnamed sources, Sony are trying to encourage the release of non-gaming apps for the fourth quarter, as well as simple 2D games, with a 100Mb file size limit said to be in place.
With hard evidence thin on the ground this could of course be nonsense, although given Sony's existing positioning with the PSP Go it would make a lot of sense.

I think everyone who supports the PSP is hoping for apps. The PSP Go demo seemed to show a clock and possibly a calender app that isnt present within any official firmware release for the PSP so apps must exist somewhere. 3rd party apps will help make the PSP more competitive in a market dominated by the iphone and the DS/DSi. Combine features of both would make the Go a viable solution for people who want a rich mobile media experience but dont want to be stuck playing kiddie games like mario all day
