Microsoft has acquired Israeli technology firm 3DV, business publication Globes reporting that Moshe Lichtman confirmed the purchase when discussing Microsoft's R&D facilities in Israel.

"The R&D centre helped Microsoft in buying the intellectual property of 3DV Systems, and in the wake of that dozens of the company's employees were recruited to work at the development centre," Microsoft's Lichtman reveals.

The deal has been in the pipeline for some time, but was finally approved last week.

3DV's technology is said to be at the heart of Natal; although Microsoft have always described the technology as 'in-house' developed. Now it is, if you see what I mean.
