The summer lull may be taking its toll, but Japanese hardware sales have picked up according to the new chart covering last week. The DSi once again leads, but the top-three selling systems all benefit from improved sales.

Nintendo's handheld is tops once again, this week (well, last week technically) with sales of over 40,000. The PSP is second with nearly 28,000 sales - followed by the Wii with 19,000.

Fourth is the PS3 with sales of over 10,000, comfortably ahead of the Xbox 360 which sold nearly 7,000 units over the month.

Penultimately, we're faced with the DS Lite on over 5,000 - followed by the PS2 with nearly 4,000.

More from Japan as we get it.
