Asteroids movie coming from Universal

A new movie based on 'classic' Atari game Asteroids will be coming from Universal, the studio confirming that they have won a bidding war for the rights to create the game - based on the retro rock-blaster.
According to The Hollywood Reporter, the film's script will be created by Matthew Lopez; the man behind Disney's Bedtime Stories, Universal have beaten off four other bidders.
Lorenzo di Bonaventura, meanwhile, is position to produce, having cut his teeth on Transformers and Constantine.
We've no word yet on what kind of plot we can expect from this, although we're certainly intrigued.
