EA boss says it's too bloody expensive

EA has been all over recent industry news due to the company's massive cutbacks to staffing and retooling of production efforts. One of the offices that took a major hit was Pandemic; apparently this was due in part to the company having qualms with operating costs of the state.

According to Kotaku, EA big boss John Riccitiello claims that the cost of employing developers in sunny California is double, or even triple, that of the costs in the UK, Montreal, Eastern Europe and China. Riccitiello cited problems such as California regulatory policy changes and tax incentives from some of the above-mentioned locales.

Another reason cited was the push for the company to switch to a digital market. The layoffs numbered around 200, with only very senior employees being relocated.

We will keep you informed as we learn more on the subject.
