{"id":671,"date":"2026-01-12T20:16:50","date_gmt":"2026-01-12T20:16:50","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.jolt.co.uk\/kb\/jcps-wordpress-dashboard-protection-feature\/"},"modified":"2026-01-17T16:58:04","modified_gmt":"2026-01-17T16:58:04","slug":"jcps-wordpress-dashboard-protection-feature","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.jolt.co.uk\/help\/jcps-wordpress-dashboard-protection-feature\/","title":{"rendered":"JCP&#8216;s WordPress Dashboard Protection feature"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p>If you would like to strengthen your WordPress site&#8217;s security, JCP&#8216;s <strong>WordPress Dashboard Protection<\/strong> feature restricts access to the WordPress administrative dashboard (or <code>wp-admin<\/code>) by IP address. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The protection still allows normal users to login, such as customers of a WooCommerce installation or members of a MemberPress installation, but they won&#8217;t be able to access the <code>wp-admin<\/code> dashboard. Primarily, this protects against compromised administrator passwords and can be a powerful preventative if your site has struggled with malware or security in the past. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Enabling the protection<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<ol class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Login to JCP via your Jolt customer area<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Select the site you would like to protect from the <strong>Sites<\/strong> list<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Select the <strong>Security<\/strong> tab<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Add your <strong>IP address<\/strong> to the <strong>Trusted IPs<\/strong> list (your current IP will be pre-filled)<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Scroll to the <strong>WordPress Dashboard Protection <\/strong>section and toggle the feature on<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image size-full is-resized\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"830\" height=\"618\" src=\"https:\/\/kb.jolt.co.uk\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/5\/2026\/01\/image.png\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-672\" style=\"width:353px;height:auto\" srcset=\"https:\/\/kb.jolt.co.uk\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/5\/2026\/01\/image.png 830w, https:\/\/kb.jolt.co.uk\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/5\/2026\/01\/image-300x223.png 300w, https:\/\/kb.jolt.co.uk\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/5\/2026\/01\/image-768x572.png 768w, https:\/\/kb.jolt.co.uk\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/5\/2026\/01\/image-770x573.png 770w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 830px) 100vw, 830px\" \/><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"banner-note\">\ud83d\udca1 When the dashboard protection is enabled and your IP is not trusted, you&#8217;ll see a <strong>403<\/strong> error when trying to access <code>wp-admin<\/code> <\/p>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Using the magic link<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p>Dashboard protection can become inconvenient if your IP address changes regularly. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>However, you can use JCP&#8216;s <strong>Dashboard magic link<\/strong> to automatically add your IP address to the <strong>Trusted IPs<\/strong> list; meaning you don&#8217;t need to add your IP manually if it changes. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>When the dashboard protection is enabled, you&#8217;ll see a <strong>Click to copy your magic link.. <\/strong>link and this will copy the magic link to your clipboard, allowing you to bookmark it, or share it with a colleague, or your client. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>You should only share the magic link with people who need access to the WordPress dashboard. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Disabling the protection<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<ol class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Login to JCP via your Jolt customer area<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Select the site you would like to protect from the <strong>Sites<\/strong> list<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Select the <strong>Security<\/strong> tab<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Toggle <strong>WordPress Dashboard Protection<\/strong> to <strong>Off<\/strong><\/li>\n<\/ol>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>If you would like to strengthen your WordPress site&#8217;s security, JCP&#8217;s WordPress Dashboard Protection feature restricts access to the WordPress administrative dashboard (or wp-admin) by IP address.
