Complete Google Ads tag setup in WordPress using Site Kit

Description

If Google Ads reports that no Google tag is installed on your WordPress website, the site may need the Site Kit by Google plugin installed and connected before conversion tracking can be completed. Installing the plugin alone is not enough: the final setup must be completed by signing in with the relevant Google account in the WordPress dashboard.

Identified Challenge

  • Google Ads says a Google tag cannot be found on the website
  • You have been given a Google Ads tracking ID and prompted to add it in WordPress
  • The Site Kit by Google plugin may already be installed, but Google Ads tracking is still not active
  • You cannot finish the setup until you authenticate Site Kit with your Google account

Solution

  1. Log in to your WordPress admin area.
  2. Go to Plugins and confirm that Site Kit by Google is installed and activated.
  3. Open Site Kit in the WordPress menu.
  4. Select Start setup if prompted.
  5. Sign in with the Google account that manages your Google Ads service.
  6. Follow the on-screen setup steps to connect Site Kit to your Google services.
  7. In Site Kit, go to Settings and choose the option to connect more services.
  8. Select Ads and enter your Google Ads tracking ID.
  9. Complete the setup and allow time for Google Ads to detect the tag on the website.

If Site Kit is not yet installed, install and activate it before starting the steps above.

If you cannot access WordPress, reset the WordPress administrator password first, then return to the Site Kit setup. If you do not know which administrator email address is linked to WordPress, contact support via www.jolt.co.uk/support/.
