Transfer an existing domain registration to Jolt
Before you begin (important for existing services)
If there are any active services on your domain (for example, a live website or email accounts), please contact our support team before you request the transfer.
We’ll make sure your DNS zone is set up on our side first so that your website and email continue to work during and after the transfer. If you’re not sure whether anything is currently using the domain, just reach out and we’ll help you check.
Description
If your domain is registered with another provider and is approaching renewal, you can transfer the domain registration to Jolt so it is managed within the same provider.
This guide applies to most generic top-level domains (gTLDs), which follow the same transfer process as .com.
That process usually includes:
- Unlock the domain at the current registrar
- Request the EPP/Auth code
- Start the transfer with the new registrar
- Approve confirmation email
- Wait up to ~5 days for completion
This is the standard ICANN transfer process.
These are the most widely used and behave almost identically to .com.
- .com
- .net
- .org
- .info
- .biz
