JetBackup – Restoring or Downloading a Full Account Backup

JetBackup maintains automatic backups of your hosting account, including files, databases, email accounts, cron jobs, DNS zones, and SSL certificates. You can restore any of these from a previous backup point, or download a copy to keep locally.

This guide covers full account restores and downloads. If you only need to restore a specific part of your account, see the related guides below — the process is simpler and avoids overwriting anything you don’t need to change.

Accessing JetBackup

cPanel

Step 1. Log in to cPanel.

Step 2. Scroll to the Files section and click JetBackup, or use the search bar at the top of cPanel to find it.

Plesk

Step 1. Log in to Plesk.

Step 2. Click on your domain under Websites & Domains, then scroll to the Files & Databases section and click JetBackup 5.

Restoring a Full Account Backup

Step 1. From the JetBackup dashboard, click the Full Backups icon.

Step 2. You’ll see a list of available backup snapshots with dates. Select the backup point you want to revert to and click Restore.

Step 3. Confirm by clicking Restore Selected Items.

Step 4. The restore job will be queued. Click the Queue button on the JetBackup dashboard to monitor progress. The job will show a status of Completed once the restore has finished.

Depending on the size of your account, the restore may take anywhere from a few seconds to several minutes.

Downloading a Full Account Backup

The process is the same as restoring — select the account and backup date as described above, but click Download instead of Restore. Confirm with Download Selected Items, then check the Queue for progress. Once the job shows Completed, go to the Downloads tab to save the archive to your local device.

Restoring Individual Items

You don’t need to run a full account restore to recover a single component. JetBackup lets you restore each of the following independently:

  • Home Directory — restore individual files and folders without affecting the rest of your account
  • Databases — restore a specific MySQL database to a previous state
  • Email Accounts — restore a mailbox and its contents
  • Cron Jobs — restore your scheduled tasks
  • DNS Zones — restore DNS records for a domain
  • SSL Certificates — restore a previously installed certificate

Each of these options is available from the JetBackup dashboard and follows the same select-and-restore workflow described above.

Monitoring Jobs and Notifications

All restore and download operations run as background jobs. You can check their progress at any time by clicking the Queue button on the JetBackup dashboard.

JetBackup can also send email notifications when jobs complete. To configure this, click the Settings icon on the JetBackup dashboard and enable email notifications.
